6 Safety Tips When Putting Holiday Window Décor

The problem with holiday decorations arises when precautionary measures are overlooked. Yet the goal is clear – to create the perfect holiday atmosphere for your home. One way is through decorating your windows in Albuquerque. Here are six tips to guide you when putting holiday decoration on your windows:

Tip #1 – Hide and Seek
Before you start your window decoration, check if you have everything that you need – from pieces of ornaments to sets of holiday lights. Planning is first. Remember that décor you used last year? Maybe you can tweak it a bit and turn it into something unique.

Tip #2 – Right Kind of Light
There are all sorts of twinkling lights available on the market. Make sure you purchase the right lights for your aimed design. If you plan to use them in the outside your windows, check the label first if the lights are for outdoors.

Tip #3 – Spare the Stare
Take heed: turn off the lights when not in use. This will save you from possible electrical problems. This can also help conserve energy in your home.

Tip #4 – On and Off
Use a timer that automatically shuts off your lights at a certain period. This way, you wouldn’t have to worry in case you forget to turn them off for the night.

If you plan to put candles on, make sure they are kept on stable surfaces where kids and pets couldn’t knock them over. Don’t leave your candles unattended and make sure you put them out before you hit the sack or leave your home.

Tip #5 – The K.I.S.S. Rule
Keep it sweet and simple. Some homeowners prefer home decorations that are simple yet elegant; something that would easily complement their home’s look.

Tip #6 – No Flame Game
Look for decorations that are fire-resistant as much as possible. Don’t confuse this with being “fire-proof.” Fire-resistant simply means the material is less flammable and is easier to extinguish should it catch fire. So, please be careful when your décor involves fire.
