Types of Front Door Materials

The front door can make a good or bad impression on visitors because it is the first thing they will see. Some will make positive or negative assumptions about your home’s exterior based on what they think of the entry doors. That’s why you need to choose the right material for the different doors of your house.

Here are some of the types of doors to consider.

Custom Wood Entry Doors

Wood is often the go-to material of many homeowners because it is customizable, whether you want to reduce its size or change its style. Personalize and match this type of door by adding glass accents, side lights or other additions you might want. Paint it in various color tones or just add a coating of varnish to highlight it. Despite its aesthetic advantages, wooden doors naturally warp and lose some of its air-sealing because of pest damage or natural deterioration. You may have to replace it after a few years or make major and even minor repairs to make it look good again.

Custom Legacy Steel Entry Doors

One of the safest and sturdiest options for a front door is steel, like our Legacy Steel doors. Most doors that are of this material have insulated foam, allowing it to seal crawl spaces around the door. This keeps cold air from coming in and reducing the temperature of different rooms during cold months.

At Dreamstyle Remodeling, we offer only the highest quality Legacy Steel doors in the region. We offer two main types: the Legacy Woodgrain Textured Steel or the Smooth Steel, which has high-definition embossing and contouring. The 20-gauge steel door we have has 49% more galvanized steel than many 24-gauge doors on the market.

Custom Fiberglass Entry Doors

Another door type to consider is fiberglass; this option provides you with a wood-like appearance but is more durable. You can have this material stained in the colors you want or give it a traditional wooden look. This material can take some minor nicks and dents, and doesn’t sustain natural damage and wear and tear as easily as wood.
